A Journey Back to Watercolor: How I Rediscovered My Passion
It’s Never Too Late to Chase Your Dreams
Hey there! I just wanted to share a bit of my story with you. I’ve always been into art, photography, architecture, and design. Well, ever since I was a kid, I’ve been experimenting with all kinds of art forms. Watercolors were always something I loved, but I only dabbled in them—learning on my own through books. Still, I always had this dream of creating professional-level watercolor paintings. It was something I held onto, even if life kept pulling me in different directions.
Then, when the pandemic hit a few years ago, everything came to a standstill. Like most of us, I suddenly had so much free time on my hands, but no idea what to do with it. Normally, I’d be working 12 hours a day, always on the go. But with everything at a halt, I just felt stuck and a bit lost. One day, while going through my old art books—ones I’ve collected since I was young—I found a bunch on watercolor authored by famous artists. These were books I had read before but never really put into practice.
That was my “lightbulb moment.” You know how people say, “You can’t learn to swim just by reading about it”? Well, I realized I’d been doing just that with watercolors. I decided right then and there to stop dreaming and start doing. I signed up for online watercolor classes—some from really renowned artists and institutions around the world. And wow, I went all in. I spent almost 12 hours a day practicing what I learned. And the craziest thing? I never felt tired. I think it’s because I was finally doing something I was truly passionate about—something I’d been waiting so long to pursue.
Fast forward a year and a half of intense practice, and I finally felt like I’d reached a place where I was confident in my watercolor skills. But I didn’t stop there. I kept learning from different artists, soaking up their unique styles and approaches. After three years of hard work, I can honestly say I’ve created my own style that feels true to me—and I absolutely love it!
The best part? I’ve not only mastered watercolor painting but also discovered so many ways to use it in different creative projects. It’s been a game-changer for me, and now I feel like it’s time to help others who have that same passion but maybe never got the chance to really dive into it.
And here’s what I’ve learned through all of this: it doesn’t matter how old you are or how long you’ve put your dream on hold. If you’ve kept that passion alive, you can absolutely make it happen. I’m ready to share everything I’ve learned with anyone who, like me, has been waiting to turn their watercolor dreams into reality.
It’s never too late to chase your dreams, my friend. And if I can do it, so can you!
